Ukiah School District

For precaution and safety of our staff and students - Ukiah School is currently in a Secure Status due to reports of potential police activity in the area. There are no direct threats towards the school or students at this time. During Secure Status, the building doors are locked and no visitors are allowed. Students and staff are free to continue normal activities and schedules. We will lift this added level of awareness as soon as we can. Will be contacting our parents for arrangements to pick up their students at normal end of day times. Parents with concerns are asked to call the school office or contact Supt Orr.

Who is ready to shoot some hoops? As our fall sports wrap up, the winter season is ready to go - students in grades 6-12 interested in playing basketball need to complete the required documentation on FinalForms before October 15th. Any questions or to get some help, contact your coach or the school office.

Fall TSA plans are being made and projects created. In October students will compete in game design. Teams are getting really creative with 3D printed pieces, wood shop game boards, and more!

School Picture Day is coming! Tuesday, September, 24th is fall Picture Day for all students and staff. Information on picture packages will be in students hands and backpacks Monday.

Geometry and Algebra 2 students will be learning to navigate with compass orientation, thanks to the US Forest Service. Orienteering and Geocaching are some of the skills that employees from the Pendleton office will be teaching for two hours on Tuesday, September 17.

For the first time in a while all students in Ukiah have full PE class - and to help them get the most of class - they need gym shoes and PE clothes. We ask parents to help remind their students to bring shorts and clean gym shoes for class each day. Thanks!

First day is in the books! Wonderful to see all the beautiful smiles and hear the halls full of chatter and laughter again! It's going to be a great year!

It's almost class time Cougars! To help with the start of the year questions and planning, each student should have received a registration packet in the mail for the upcoming school year and supply lists and academic calendars have been shared around town. Mrs. Orr, Mrs Kerr, and others will be able to help you with anything this week and next. Just give us a call or stop by! See you all soon!

It is smoky and hot - and the hard working fire crews are everywhere - but our staff is still doing great work! The shop storage is getting a facelift. The outdoor spaces are fresh coat of paint. New gravel for the playground. And more! We will be ready for kiddos in August!

Dear Cougar Students and Families, With the current wildfire situation and need for emergency crews to utilize the facility, the remaining week of summer school has been canceled. Our building is serving as a fire command center and point of operations. At this time limited staff will be on site. If anything is needed, please reach out via email or directly. We feel it’s important that staff and students have time to be prepared, work with crews, and provide support to the greater community. It’s not a good situation, but the effort and dedication shown by our community makes me proud. Stay safe and healthy!

Summer School fun is canceled for Thursday, July 18. With the fire activity of yesterday, the road closures, and air quality issues we think it’s best for students and staff to remain home with their families. This is for both the elementary/morning session and secondary/afternoon session. We will try to reschedule the trip soon. Stay safe and cool - and we will see everyone on Monday!

Adventure Begins at Your Library! This summer children of all ages are invited to join us for our Summer Reading Library Program. This year we are focus on ADVENTURE! Stop by the library for more details and a full schedule!

Friendly reminder to our parents about Summer Options - we are building our supply lists, getting materials ordered, and our trips scheduled! Will your student be joining us? Art, music, history, project learning, science, robotics, woodworking, literacy camps, reading challenges, sports development time and more! Please let us know by June 12th. Information messages and forms went out with each student last week - if you need more information or another form - contact the school office. Its going to be a great July!
